All About Class C Motorhomes
When you’re in the market for a motorhome, you might notice they come in three categories. These are known to the RV community as classes A, B, and C. Large and luxurious Class A motorhomes offer the most amenities, but they’re also known to be gas guzzlers. Class B motorhomes (also known as camper vans) are smaller and more affordable, but not as full-featured.
The Class C motorhome is your “in between” option, packing all the features you need for comfortable camping into a lightweight, fuel-efficient vehicle. Read on to learn more about this popular and versatile category of motorhome.

The Perfect Size
Most Class C motorhomes are between 25-30 feet in length, which makes them a lot larger than your cozy little camper van but still smaller than enormous Class A models. Their moderate size appeals to families, as they provide accommodations for 4-8 people while staying within a very reasonable price range.
You can also find larger models of Class C motorhomes called Super Cs, which offer a more spacious environment while having all the standard Class C features. These are a great option for larger families or anyone who wants a little more room to spread out.
Unique Features
The Class C motorhome is easily recognized by its unique design, with the front portion of its chassis resembling a truck. There is usually a section of the cabin that overhangs the truck cab, which is known as the cabover bunk. This serves as a loft-style sleeping area.
Want to bring an additional vehicle on your camping trips? The towing capacity of the Class C motorhome allows you to expand your rig to include a family car, which gives you the option of easier and more economical outings while your motorhome stays parked at your campground.
Easy Handling
Thanks to its truck-style chassis and compact design, driving your Class C motorhome is going to feel very much like driving your average commuter vehicle. The brakes behave similarly to commuter brakes, and you’ll find the pedals right where you expect them to be.
You’re also going to have an easier time finding campsites than you would with a larger RV. Most Class C motorhomes aren’t so large that they require special accommodations. Their smaller size and simpler construction also make Class C motorhomes easier to maintain.
The Price is Right
Class C motorhomes are an excellent value, costing thousands of dollars less than Class A motorhomes while offering a similar package of amenities. Of course, the savings get even better when you factor in fuel and maintenance costs. A pre-owned Class C motorhome in excellent condition is an especially good deal.
