Americamps RV Resort (Ashland, VA)

You’ll find this highly-rated campground just north of Richmond off of Interstate 95. The resort is pet-friendly and has a pool, a rec room and a fitness center for exercise and relaxation. There are 198 full hook-up sites, with 105 of these being pull-thru sites for big rigs. Laundry facilities, free cable TV, complimentary Wi-Fi and a bathhouse are some of the great camping amenities you’ll find here.

Take the eight-mile journey south into historic Richmond for a day of adventuring in the city. The second successful English settlement is here, as well as the Edgar Allan Poe Museum that reveres one of our country’s most famous and renowned writers. You can even head a little further afield to visit Monticello, the expansive property that belonged to the nation’s third president and one of its founders, Thomas Jefferson.

Gwynn’s Island RV Resort & Campground (Gwynn, VA)

Looking to camp alongside Chesapeake Bay? This oceanfront campground is full of great amenities and provides you with the opportunity for marine recreation. So whether you’ve brought a small fishing boat or want to take the kids for a swim, you can do it while staying at this cozy campground. Amenities include shower and restroom facilities, on-site laundry, a camp store, ice and propane for sale, a playground, Wi-Fi and plenty of planned activities throughout the year. Lake Ridge RV Resort (Hillsville, VA)

Want a place that’s great for the kids? This wooded campground amidst the Blue Ridge Mountains just southeast of Roanoke is perfect for children. A big outdoor pool with waterslides and rope courses will keep the kids occupied for hours (just make sure to apply that sunscreen!). When the kids are tuckered out from the sun, they can head indoors for some arts and crafts activities, including tie-dyed T-shirts and plush toys. Or you can take them down to the mini-golf course or the playground for some more outdoor fun.

As for the campground itself, there are plenty of full hook-up RV sites with picnic tables and fire rings. Some sites have concrete patios as well. A camp store and snack bar provide grocery items, souvenirs, treats and RV supplies. Laundry facilities, an arcade and a movie room round out the amenities for this beautiful wooded campground.

North Landing Beach RV Resort (Virginia Beach, VA)

This campground provides you access to 1200 feet of private sandy beaches in southern Virginia. There are 150 RV sites on the grounds with access to laundry facilities, a rec room and a souvenir shop. You can play basketball, horseshoes, tennis or beach volleyball and there’s a playground for the kids, too. Nearby hiking trails offer recreational opportunities for biking and exploring nature, and you can even rent a canoe or kayak to explore the water.
