Caring for your RV is the number one thing you can do to ensure it lasts for many years; helping your family build memories. Spring is finally here and it seems Old Man Winter has finally left the building. But that means you need to now dust off your RV and get it ready to enjoy the season.

This spring RV check list will help you go through a series of checks that help ensure your RV is up to speed and ready to be enjoyed.

1. Batteries | It’s easy for your battery to die while in storage. In fact, you can expect to lose about 10% of your battery’s charge each month it is in storage. Fully charge your battery and follow through with any maintenance outlined by the battery manufacturer.

2. Water System | Your RV water system has been winterized to withstand the harsh winter temperatures and prevent any cracks in pipes. Now that the weather is warmer you can bring your RV in to be dewinterized. Your entire plumbing system will be flushed so that you can use the toilet as well as fresh water for drinking and showering.

3. Appliances | This is the best time to check out your appliances and ensure they’re fully operational. Make sure they heat or cool as necessary and that all seals are in good shape. This is particularly important when it comes to your refrigerator, as any broken seals can cost you down the line.

4. Seams | Before you hit the road for the season’s first trip, make it a point to check any seams and seals around windows, slides, or doors. It’s absolutely critical that these be in top notch shape. This keeps moisture and critters out and helps ensure your RV remains energy efficient.

5. Safety | It’s important to go through all of the safety checks in your RV and ensure that everything is on the up and up. Ensure your fire extinguisher is working, your first aid kit is ready to go, and anything else you might need for safety is all good.
